ABOUT THE CASTING DIRECTORS:

Debra ZaneDebra Zane has been a casting director for nearly three decades. Her feature credits include American Beauty, Galaxy Quest, Traffic, Catch Me If You Can, Seabiscuit, Dreamgirls, Ocean's 11, 12 and 13, The Planet of the Apes franchise, The Hunger Games franchise, Cocaine Bear, and Tron: Ares.
Debra has been nominated 21 times for the Casting Society's ARTIOS Award, and has won 4 times.
Born in Miami, Florida, Debra attended Sarah Lawrence College, in Bronxville, NY.

Cassandra HanCassandra Han is an Artios-nominated casting director based in Munich, Germany. After more than a decade of casting in New York, she has established herself as a key figure in creating bridges between Europe and the US/UK – with a strong focus on German production. Recent highlights include The Weight (Ethan Hawke, Russell Crowe), Samia (Tribeca 2024 Special Jury Mention), The German (Lionsgate/YES), and the upcoming sequel to The Physician. UK casting credits include Miss Fallaci (Paramount+), Black Gold, Quezon, and Chopin, A Sonata in Paris. Her German-language work ranges from the upcoming She Said Maybe (Netflix) and an untitled Elevator Boys feature film for Amazon to arthouse work like Oskar Roehler's Bad Director. Italy Casting: James Mangold's Ford v Ferrari, Terrance Malick's A Hidden Life, and two seasons of Barbarians (Netflix). 
Cassandra is the President of the Global Chapter of Casting Society (CSA) and a member of the German and European Film Academies. 

Sien Josephine TeijssenSien Josephine Teijssen is an Artios-nominated casting director based in Antwerp, Belgium. Originally trained in law, Sien Josephine has been active in casting since 2015, quickly establishing herself as a trusted name in casting. Recent highlights include The Weight (Ethan Hawke, Russel Crowe), Young Hearts (Berlinale 2024 Jury Mention), Julie Keeps Quiet (2025 Belgian Oscar Entry) and the internationally acclaimed Netflix Belgian-Dutch series Undercover. UK casting credits include The Couple Next Door, Professor T and Bookish. She works closely with directors to shape stories through casting, searching for talent—whether trained actors or first-time performers—who bring authenticity to the screen. 
Sien Josephine is a Board Member of CSA's Global Chapter and a member of the European Film Academy (EFA).

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

In this workshop with up to 24 selected participants, Debra, Cassandra and Sien Josephine will share their experience, give insights into how international casting works and what the best casting practices on the international market are.

Participants will be divided into three groups of up to 8 participants. Each group will work with each Casting Director on a specific topic.

Participants will be selected by the casting directors from all applicants, assuring a fair and inclusive process.

The workshop will be conducted in English.
Only apply if you are based in Japan and fluent in English. 

WORKSHOP SCHEDULE
 November 1st
10:00 AM – 4:00 PM | Group Workshops

Location: 
Shibuya, Tokyo. 
The venue details will be shared with selected workshop participants before the event.  

HOW TO APPLY

To participate, you must:

- be a professional actor & above 18 years old
- be based in Japan
- be fluent in English
- be available in Tokyo on November 1st

Please upload your self introduction in English together with your 1-minute monologue. 
If you don't have a 1-minute monologue, it's fine to upload just your English self intro.
