CASTING : KILLABEE
Production company De Wereldvrede (Julie Keeps Quiet, Holy Rosita, ...) and Sien Josephine Casting are looking for a child (aged 9–15) with Asian roots (preferably Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese or Indian) to play the lead role of Sam in the short film Killabee by Hyun Lories. No acting experience required – we’re mainly looking for someone who’s excited to embark on this adventure!
About the film
Killabee follows the story of Sam, an adopted boy of Asian descent who has just moved to a small Flemish village with his mother. During the local carnival weekend, Sam sets off on a journey of discovery through his new neighbourhood. Though he’s welcomed with open arms, he slowly begins to realise that his difference will always set him apart— even from his own mum.
About the role
Sam is curious, outgoing, and speaks his mind. He approaches people without fear. Dancing is his passion – something he shares with his mum. He’s social, playful, and always up for a challenge.
Important:
Although Sam is written as a boy in the script, we want to keep this casting as open as possible. We warmly encourage children of all genders to apply.
Shooting will take place during a couple of days in August in Belgium.

Productiehuis De Wereldvrede (Julie Zwijgt, Holy Rosita, ...) en Sien Josephine Casting zijn op zoek naar een kind (9–15 jaar) met Aziatische roots (bij voorkeur Chinees, Koreaans, Vietnamees of Indisch) voor de hoofdrol van Sam in de kortfilm Killabee, geregisseerd door Hyun Lories. Ervaring is niet nodig – we zoeken vooral iemand die enthousiast is om dit avontuur aan te gaan!
Over de film
Killabee vertelt het verhaal van Sam, een geadopteerde jongen van Aziatische afkomst die net met zijn moeder is verhuisd naar een Vlaams dorpje. Tijdens het lokale carnavalsweekend gaat hij op ontdekkingstocht in zijn nieuwe buurt. Hoewel hij overal vriendelijk onthaald wordt, begint hij stilaan te voelen dat zijn anders-zijn hem altijd een beetje zal onderscheiden – zelfs van zijn eigen mama.
Over de rol
Sam is nieuwsgierig, open en zegt wat hij denkt. Hij stapt zonder schroom op mensen af. Dansen is zijn grote passie – iets wat hij deelt met zijn moeder. Hij is sociaal, speels en houdt van een uitdaging.
Belangrijk:
Hoewel Sam in het script als jongen geschreven is, houden we de casting graag zo open mogelijk. Kinderen van alle genders zijn meer dan welkom om zich kandidaat te stellen.
De opnames vinden plaats op enkele dagen in augustus 2025 in België.
