is hosting this very special event for young actors living in Rome or Lazio. If you are an actress or actor living in Rome or Lazio, if you are under 30 years old, if you speak English fluently, if you are interested in working internationally, and if you are available in Rome on the 12th and 13th of December, this is for you. 

The event “Local Roots, Global Roles” is part of the Filmmakers Europe OneMinuteMonologue concept and conducted for Roma Lazio Film Commission. It is created to connect actors and national and international casting directors, focusing on their craft and profession. 

The actors that meet the application requirements can apply via submission of a monologue in English. Italian casting directors use the submitted monologue to select the participating actors from the applicants. These selected participants will work together with the Italian casting directors and their international colleagues from France, the UK, and Germany.

This two-day, in-person workshop is designed for professional young actors based in the Roma Lazio region. Casting directors will work in small groups with the selected participants, share their experience and showcase how casting works in general and in different regions.

Workshop location:
Rome

A limited number of participants will be selected by the Italian casting directors from all applicants. The selected actors will be divided into three groups. Each group will work with each casting director on topics such as chemistry reading, self-taping, as well as international visibility and opportunity. The workshop will be conducted in English. Participation is free of charge for the selected participants. Transport/accommodation costs will not be covered. 

What is a OneMinuteMonologue?
A OneMinuteMonologue is at the heart of this event. It’s a powerful, one-minute performance where you demonstrate your range, depth, and unique qualities as an actor. Feel free to choose your own monologue. Finding the right one to showcase your talent and get the casting directors' attention is part of the challenge.
